Design Features and Working Principle

The UC209 bearing is an integrated unit component composed of a double-sealed spherical outer ring ball bearing and a cast (or stamped steel plate) bearing housing

. Its most distinctive characteristic is that the outer diameter surface of the outer ring is spherical. This design enables it to engage with the concave spherical inner bore of the bearing housing, thereby providing an automatic self-aligning effect . This functionality compensates for misalignment issues caused by installation inaccuracies or shaft deflection, making it particularly suitable for applications where the precision of the support base bore is not high or where the shaft might be slightly flexible.


This model of bearing typically employs a set screw design, where set screws are used to fasten the bearing directly onto the shaft

. The bearings are usually supplied pre-lubricated and equipped with seals, effectively preventing the ingress of contaminants and enabling maintenance-free or low-maintenance operation . It is primarily designed to withstand combined radial and axial loads, with the radial load being the dominant component .
